After the product is 3D printed, sometimes you need to do post-processing, in fact, mainly surface treatment, common post-processing methods include these points.

3d printing

1. Sandpaper sanding

Sandpaper is the most common sanding tool, you need to pay attention to is, before sanding to add some water to avoid the material is too hot hair. Usually the table is common (400/600/800/1000/1200/1500) the lower the mark the larger the sandpaper particles, the printing order is to start with the lower mark, but because the surface flatness of the printed items is not the same, you can also not completely according to a fixed order. Can also be used after 400 directly to 800, mainly in accordance with the actual situation at the time.

2. Acetone polishing

Acetone can also dissolve ABS material, so ASB model can also use acetone polishing, mainly with acetone vapor fumigation 3D model to complete polishing. PLA material can not be polished with acetone. Need to pay attention to acetone is a harmful chemical, proposed to be in a well-ventilated environment and wear a good gas mask and other safety equipment things in the completion of the operation.

3.PLA polishing solution

In fact is the addition of water diluted acrylic glue, the main component is trichloromethane or chlorinated alkane and other mixed solvents. The operating procedure is to put the polishing solution into the operating vessel, the model with wire or rope hanging model base into the polishing solution has been added to the vessel soaked, soaking time is not suitable for too long, about 8 seconds can be. Like acetone, PLA polishing solution is also a toxic substance, it is proposed to use with caution.

4.surface sandblasting

This is also a very common polishing method, but also to ensure a smooth surface treatment. The operator hand-held nozzle against the model polishing, the principle is to use compressed air as the power, has caused high-speed jet beam will be sprayed material to the surface of the model needs to be treated to achieve the role of polishing, sandblasting faster than sanding. Regardless of the size of the model, are able to use sandblasting surface to achieve a smooth role.

5.Adhesive assembly

Some oversized and multi-part or disassembly of the printed model, often need to bonding. The best way to complete the bonding is to use the point of the time to wipe the glue, followed by a rubber band to fix, reasonably prompted by the bonding more closely. If the bonding process encountered model gaps or contact rough conditions, you can also use Bondo glue or filler to make it smooth.

6.Model coloring

Spray paint method: the operation is relatively simple, more suitable for small models or model meticulous part of the coloring. In order to be able to spray the ideal role, before completing the spray paint to complete the test spray, test operation, concentration is suitable, but also reasonable to prevent waste of resources. The use of the spray paint method can also spray the paint evenly on the surface of the model, greatly saving time.
